  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp apple vinegar (or dry apple juice)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 medium yellow onions, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • 1/2 tsp sugar

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, vinegar (or juice), sesame oil, and sugar. Add the sliced beef and marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Stir-fry onions until soft and slightly caramelized (3–4 minutes). Add garlic and ginger; cook for another minute.
  3. Push onions aside and add marinated beef in a single layer. Sear without stirring for about 1–2 minutes; then stir until cooked through (3–4 minutes).
  4. Pour in beef broth or water; stir well and heat until saucy (about 1 minute).
