Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup salted butter (softened)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter (not natural)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 44 whoppers
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (6 ounces)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and baking powder; set aside.
  3. In another bowl, cream together softened butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Mix in the egg, peanut butter, and vanilla until well combined.
  4. Gradually incorporate the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Roll tablespoon-sized portions of dough into balls, coat in granulated sugar, and place on the baking sheet.
  6. Bake for about 8 minutes until lightly golden around the edges. Let cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack.
  7. Decorate each cookie by placing one whopper on top as the spider's body and melting chocolate chips to draw legs.
