  • 1 1/2 cups dark chocolate chips or chunks
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 3 eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 tsp espresso powder (optional)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 package candy eyes
  • 20 oz semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp heavy cream, to thin

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9 x 9 inch cake pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt butter and 1 cup of dark chocolate chips together until smooth.
  3. Whisk in sugar and eggs until combined. Add melted chocolate mixture, vanilla extract, cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt; mix until just combined.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes. Allow cooling completely before cutting into squares.
  5. Melt remaining chocolate chips with coconut oil; dip cooled brownies into this mixture to coat.
  6. Create bandage designs with icing made from powdered sugar and heavy cream, then attach candy eyes.
