  • 2 medium onions (diced)

  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 34 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (28 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans red kidney beans (drained)
  • 2 cups broth (beef, chicken, or vegetable)

Instructions

  1. In a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Transfer to a plate.
  2. In the same pot, sauté diced onions until soft. Add spices and sugar, stirring well.
  3. Mix in tomato paste, then add diced tomatoes and tomato sauce; bring to a simmer.
  4. Return the beef to the pot along with kidney beans and broth; stir to combine.
  5. Simmer for at least 15–20 minutes before serving.
